JHS Student Opportunities

 

3D Award/Student of the Month

  • Monthly award nominated and selected By JHS staff - One student per grade level
  • Based on  qualities of dependability, diligence, and dedication
  • Students have photo displayed in front foyer and receive lunch off campus and article in The Jackson Herald

National Honor Society

  • Dr. Jerry Rice - Chapter Advisor
  • Membership based on four areas of evaluation: scholarship leadership. service and character
  • Selection based on majority vote of five-member Faculty Council appointed annually by principal
  • Scholastic criteria required to apply: Rising 11th and 12th graders with cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.7 or higher and who have completed six Honors or AP courses

Scotland Exchange Program

  • Jenny Hardy - Coordinator
  • Students in grades 10 and 11 are eligible to apply during October and November each year
  • Twenty (20) students are selected in January each year
  • Selections based on teacher recommendations, personal interview and JHS academic, discipline, and attendance history

Europe / WWII Trip

  • Bob Pittard - Coordinator
  • Twenty-Six (26) students are selected in September each year
  • Students in Grade 12 are eligible to apply during August and September each year
  • Selections based on teacher recommendations and JHS academic, discipline, and attendance history

National Parks Trip

  • Harry Cooper - Coordinator
  • Thirty-Two (32) students are selected in January each year
  • Students in Grades 9 and 10 are eligible to apply during November and December each Year
  • Selections based on teacher recommendations and JHS academic, discipline and attendance history 

*Students may only participate in Scotland Exchange or Europe / WWII Trip, not both. They may participate in the National Parks Trip in addition to Scotland Exchange and Europe / WWII.
